El Día del Turismo se celebra el 27 de septiembre a nivel mundial, desde 1980, por iniciativa de la Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT)⁴. En Chile, esta fecha también forma parte del calendario de días nacionales³. El objetivo de este día es fomentar la conciencia sobre el valor social, cultural, político y económico del turismo y su contribución al desarrollo sostenible⁴. Chile es un destino turístico diverso y atractivo, que se ubica en el 51° puesto del Índice de Competitividad Turística de 2015⁵.
